St. Montan is a village that we must pass through if we are traveling north to Montelimar or beyond. From us the road is switchbacks down to the village then the narrowest main street you've ever seen. But it is beautiful! There's an old "chateau"that is in ruins that sits above the village.

There are other attractions too. A very small but handy grocery store for those times when we need bread and water and NOTHING is open of close. There's a great bar/café that gives us chocolate with our café creme for less than 2 euros (Substantially less than what we paid in the main square in Avignon!); and talks with us! There is also a great crêperie that has it's own hours that even the neighboring boulangerie can't follow. We were persistent and were rewarded with a fantastically entertaining meal. The waiter must have taken pity on us mom's and took the kids to the kitchen to watch the crêpes being prepared so we could enjoy our glass of wine.

The day we really explored the village for the first time with the kids was a discovery not of their sense of history at how old this place was but how nuturing and exicted they were by this little chiot that they found wandering around. We knew that it's owner wasn't far but the kids believed they could keep it and named the puppy Vignoble which means vineyard. It was a sad moment when we asked the right person and found le chiot's owner.
